Human Resources
The Human Resources Branch provides expert and strategic advice in developing the Department’s human resource management policies and consists of the following three sections:
The Employee Relations Section is responsible for:
- recruitment operations
- workplace relations, including agreement making and common law contracts covering remuneration and other conditions
- developing employment conditions policy, including maintenance of relevant Employee Relations Advices
- management and administration of the payroll including processing pay, allowances and leave
- Occupational Health & Safety, including rehabilitation and case management, and
- employee conduct including Review of Actions, investigation of suspected breaches of the Code of Conduct and assisting staff in grievance and conflict resolution.
The Employee Development and Performance Section is responsible for:
- employee development, including employee induction programs, the Department’s learning and development strategy including in-house training programs and performance management
- the Graduate Employment Program
- Summer Clerk, Trainee and Indigenous employment programs
- the Attorney-General’s Department/ Australian Government Solicitor exchange program
- study assistance
- reward and recognition programs, and
- the AGD Staff Survey
The Employee Planning and Reporting Section is responsible for:
- workforce planning
- job analysis and design
- Workplace Diversity
- the Harassment Contact Officers Network
- HR reporting, including preparation of reports for the Australian Public Service Commission and the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and
- management and administration of Human Resources Information Systems
