Classification

The Classification Branch is co-located with the Classification Board and Classification Review Board in Sydney.

The Branch undertakes the following functions:

  • provides administrative services to the Classification Board and Classification Review Board and supports the Censorship Ministers in their administration of the National Classification Scheme
  • runs the Classification Liaison Scheme
  • provides classification training for industry and government bodies, and
  • provides legal and policy advice to the Minister for Home Affairs relating to the administration of the National Classification Scheme

The Classification website contains information about how to apply for a classification, classification decisions in a searchable online database, downloadable markings, how to comply with classification laws and contains useful fact sheets and information for the community about classification. Information for law enforcement can also be found on the website.
