Grants for the 2011/12 financial year opened on 4 April 2011 and closed on 29 April 2011
The Attorney-General's Department administers the Grants to Australian Organisations Program (GAOP). The program has two functions:
The SCAG contributions are standing payments approved by the Attorney-General through the SCAG process. Approval of other grants is a matter for the Attorney-General's discretion, having regard to funds available and competing proposals. The funding available for 2010-11 was $1,335,800 (of which approximately half was available for grants). In the past, approved grants have ranged from $5,000 to $200,000.
To be eligible for a grant from the program, prospective recipients must be non-government organisations (including community organisations and local government associations) that are not-for-profit. Applications will not be accepted from:
Organisations are also required to demonstrate the relationship between their proposed project or activity and the government's pursuit of an equitable and accessible system of federal civil justice.
For further information on the eligibility requirements please refer to the GAOP Applicant Guidelines.
Grants are made annually to successful applicants and funds are to be expended within the financial year in which they are granted.
The Attorney-General's Department will assess each application and then rank them based on criteria set out in the GAOP Applicant Guidelines.
